The lotus is a
symbol of evolving consciousness, beauty and life. The lotus is
a sacred plant which represents the organic nature of
transformation. With its roots buried in mud, the flower of the
plant rises above the water, blossoming forth in the air to face the
sun. Closing its petals at sunset, the lotus opens in
full glory with the sunrise, symbolizing the moment when someone
awakens to full awareness.
The Lotus Retreat is 174 acre personal hermitage
just North of Laytonville California off 101. We are looking for a
few friends to share it with who will accept a role in the
upkeep and development of the property. We are not
offering public organized retreats. We are not in the "retreat
business" but rather we are stewards brought together around a
common thread of caring for and preserving the land for the next
generation.
- "Be mindful, don't
hang on to anything, let go and surrender to the way
things are."
- Ajaan Chah

- What would you do
if you were blessed with a 174 acre retreat? We say
share it with with a few friends.

"The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a
reed. The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless
petals"

WHAT WE HAVE
NOW - NOT MUCH BUT LOTS OF DREAMS
What we have is 174 acres at 3700 feet, a cookhouse
and an outhouse - a good start for a few friends to
steward (not live) to create a hermitage for personal
meditation retreat in exchange for caretaking the land.
Who is invited? Just a few people whose
meditation practice would benefit from a
mountain retreat and are willing to help take
care of the property. The retreat is not a place for
group retreats, a hermitage by definition is a place for
solitude.
Lotus Retreat is not a business as such, it is not
your money we want. We simply are looking for a
few people to help keep up the land who will bless the
land by using it to be part of their meditation practice.
Donations are always welcome, but not the focus of
the hermitage.
